TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. ACTIVE MORNING CALL. IMPROVED VALUES HOLD. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The improvement noted this week in several investment issues was maintained this morning on the C'hristchurch Stock Exchange, when an active call was put through. G. J. Coles recovered 9d, to sell at £0 9/9, closing near that mark, and the metals group was steady. Among banks, Commercials lost ground again to change hands at 19/3, and New South Wales remained firm with buyers at £37 12/6 and no stllers. New Zealands had unsupported sellers at £2 4/. Most of the business came in the brewery anil miscellaneous sections. New Zealand Breweries improved a point, and closed with buyers at £2 19/6. Broken Hill Proprietary rose 3d for the fully paids and 1/11 for the to £4 4/9 and £3 18/11 respectively, linn quotations ruling at the close. Very few alterations were made throughout the section, but Wilsons Cements showed little movement on the dividend announcement, sellers at £1 13/ receiving no response from buyers. Broken Hill South again sold on a rising market, with n later inquiry at the sale price of £2 12/. Mount Lyells were only a fraction easier at £2 8/3, and Mount Morgans held to 15/2.
