NEW REGULATIONS.

TRAWLING ON THE COAST.

BAY OF PLENTY AREAS. Under the Fisheries Act of 1908 amending regulations have been made to deal with trawling in the Bay of Plenty area.

Under the new regulations no person shall trawl, or use a trawl net or a Danish seine net for the purpose of taking fish within two miles of low water mark inside a line beginning at the northern entrance to Whangainata Harbour in the west, and following the contour of the coast in a southerly and eastern direction to the northernmost point of Cape Runaway in the ea^t.

No person shall trawl or use a trawl net in the area from Town Point, thence in a straight line to the southern end of Motiti Island, thence in a straight line to the northern end of that island, thence in a straight line to the western end of Karewha Island, thence in a straight line to the north head at the entrance to Katikati Harbour. This area also includes the harbour of Tauranga. Any person committing a breach of the regulations will be liable to a fine of £50.
