WAIHI BUSINESSMEN.

TOO MANY BANK HOLIDAYS,

(B.v Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WAIHI, this day,

At a meeting of the Waihi Chamber of Commerce it was suggested that residents should be allowed to install septic tanks on their properties, in view of the fact that no injury to health had resulted in respect of the installations made at hotels and schoolis. The chamber decided to communicate with tfie Medical Officer of Health in Auckland in the matter.

A remit to the Associated Chambers' conference that the Government be requested to abolish Saints' days as holidays was approved, it being pointed out that such holidays had already been abolished in Government Departments and that much inconvenience was caused by the action of the tading banks in still observing the holidays. It was also resol\-ed to ask the' Main Highways Board to expedite repairs to the Waihi-Katikati Road, which is in a bad state at present.
