GIRL ATTACKED.
YOUNG MAN'S OFFENCE.
DESCRIBED AS A "MENACE."

Described by the police as a menace to society, Robert Lowe Gillen (20) appeared in the Police Court this morning and admitted a charge of assaulting a 14-year-old schoolgirl.
The police said the girl was walking to the railway station at 10.30 last evening to catch a train to her home. She was opposite the police station when Gillen accosted her and tried to throw her down in the road. The girl struggled and broke away, but Gillen followed and repeated his action. Just at that moment a detective leaving the station saw the struggle and ran over.
Gillen, who was before the Court in Dunediri for a similar offence, was remanded. in custody pending the probation officers report.
