NEW OBSTACLE IN SIMPSON DIVORCE?
FIRST PETITION.
Point Raised by Noted Legal
Authority.
VALIDITY OPEN TO DOUBT.
United Press Association.—Copyright.
(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, March 22. "The withdrawal of intervention in the Simpson divorce case unfortunately does not afford light on the validity.of her first divorce obtained at Warren ton, Virginia (U.S.A.), in 1927, in an undefended suit," says Professor Barriedale Keith, noted constitutional lawyer, in a letter in "The Scotsman."
"The difficulty arises from the fact that the only American Courts in the eyes of English law which are entitled to full recognition in a British Court are those in the State in which the husband is domiciled when proceedings were initiated.
"It does not appear that the Simpson divorce was granted by such State. If that is so, the validity of the divorce in England and Scotland may be open to doubt."
He adds that it is highly desirable that such doubts should be removed.

Hurley, stated, that newsreel items depicting the Duke of Windsor ski-ing would not be shown in any part of Australia. He added: "The film' was considered to be of a character not desirable for the screen. I cannot comment further than that." The "Daily Telegraph" says it was revealed in a high official quarter that certain Empire Governments, including Australia, have agreed that it is not regarded as desirable that the Duke of Windsor should be seen in films until after the Coronation.
