MISTAKE BRINGS PRISON.

PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday,

How the owner of an overcoat, after discovering it missing, saw another person wearing it on the street was related in the Magistrate's Court to-day when William Baker was charged with the theft of the coat, valued at £5 10/. The police said the c«»at was taken from a boardinghouse. Later the same day the owner was sitting in a car with a friend when accused offered to sell them the coat for 30/. Accused had a long list of previous convictions, dating back to 1003, and had twice been declared an habitual criminal. Sentence of three months' imprisonment was imposed.
