OPENING CARNIVAI* FAST TIMES RECORDED. The opening carnival of the newlyformed Papakura Amateur Athlftic and Cycle Cluti was held on Saturday last undtr ideal conditions and surroundings on Prince Edward Park, Papakura. The big entry list contained several Auckland cracks, including Bainbridge and Sayers. These athletes were seen in action for the first time by the big crowd present and proved a great attraction. The opening was performed by Mr. H. E. McEntee, chairman of the Papakura Town Board. Messrs. F. Osborne (the club's president) and H. Towers, president of the Auckland Centre, also spoke. NEW RKCORDS ESTABLISHED. There was a good attendance of parent's and visitors at the annual athletic and inter-house sports of the Dilworth School, which were held in the school grounds on Saturday. The senior championship had an unusual result in the eqnal division of the honours between three boys, W. B. Beattie, J. J. Howard and J. Palmer, while the junior championship was won narrowly by N. J. C. Struck from K. Alexander. The line weather and a fast track resulted in the lowering of 11 records, including the open mile, 880 yds nnd 440 yds events.
