The betting will be on the win ad place system. The Hurdles. The Tuni Hurdles is the first event, and ' have paid up for. High Quality has raced consistently and was third at : a Rapa and second at Te Aroha He .-:iou!d again go well. Curlew is a good j itr.per, but he has shown little form ; ecently. However, in this field he is not without prospects. English Xight was in the money at the Waikato fixture and also ■tt Te Aroha, and his chances look bright. Mangu King and Benighted have not raced tor some time, but Gay Cavalier was third ■it the Takapuna meeting. Tie favourites may be HIGH QUALITY ENGLISH XIGHT CURLEW. The WaiNku Hack. Mangukaha, who is at the head of the Waiuku Hack Handicap, was third in the Walton Handicap, seven furlongs and a quarter, at Matamata recently, Lornacre and Miss Lu being the only ones to finish in front of him. Valmint has nothing to his credit for some time, but Paso Robles was placed over six furlongs at Te Rapa and was badly left on the second day of th« Te Aroha meeting. Racemosus won a couple of races at the Matamata. fixture and was third at Te Rapa. Spearcourt was a. winner over a mile at the Takapuna --pring meeting and has since been placed over hurdles. He galloped well at Takanini yesterday. Yalamito was successful over six furlongs at the Takapuna. fixture mentioned and also went well at Takanini yesterday. Despite his failure at Te Aroha he may do better to-morrow. Waitaka waa second to Square Acre at the Takapuna meeting, but failed at Te Aroha. Poker Face won over six furlongs at Matamata and was second to Calcutta on the second day of the Rotorua fixture. The Yamp was placed last season, while Lhacquedoon was third in a high-weight at Rotorua. Thangilamba may be the best ot the others. Some who may be iancied are PASO ROBLES POKER PACE YALAMITO. Tha Bombay Handicap. Tidewaiter was twice placed over six furlongs and a half at Rotorua, after being J ll Moana Handicap, six furlongs, A «apuna, and is now: at the head of the Bombay Handicap. Tip Toes was placed in a six and a seven-furlong maiden event at Ayondale in the spring, but has done very little since then. Racing Ladv was third to Strathire and Tidewaiter in •iS?jT Ot S P rin » B Handicap, six furlongs and Rotorua, while Brioni w«fe third to Prince Rangi and Student Prince at the iaranaki meeting on Boxing Day. The \ amp has an engagement in the preceding event. Droll was fourth to Bonstar, Raepata and Tidewaiter in the Moana Handicap, six furlongs, at Takapuna, while the others have nothing to their credit. The beat backed may be TIDEWAITER RACING LADY DROLL. The Chief Event. Fourteen remain in the Franklin Cup and a good contest should be provided! Shy was third at le Rapa over a mile and ran second to Mazir over a mile and a quarter at Te Aroha, while Sinking Fund was second to Master Brierly in the Cup. Both were very narrowly beaten and should again be prominent. Tybalt ran a great race in the Herries Memorial at the same meeting, being right up fourth. He tailed next day, but all the same is not without prospects. Miss Lu was successful at xtotorua over a mile and twenty yards beating Armacourt, who won the Cup the previous day. Armacourt, who has also been paid up for to-morrow, .was unsuccessful at Te Aroha, but may do better with 8.0. Kelly also failed there, but he galloped well yesterday. Crooning is a very solid mare and was a winner oyer six furlongs at Rotorua, while she was third to Miss Lu and Armacourt the next day. Prince Colosauua won the Ahson Cup at the Takapuna meeting in December, which was his last success', while Gay Broney appears to be returning to form. High Tea was second to Kilonsa over seven furlongs at Te Ajoha last Monali Gav Jalkie are the most likely of the others. A preference may be shown for SINKING FUND SHY TYBALT. The Stakes. The Tuakau Stakes is a race for two and three-year-olds, run at special weights. A alrent, Survoy and Sergia have pride of place in the Dynes Fulton Memorial Handicap, and the first two are recent winners, » alrent at Te Aroha and Survoy at Takapuna and Rotorua. Sergia has little recent torm, but Blackman was fourth at Te Kapa over seven fmlongs, while Tutor failed at Te Rapa. but nevertheless is a useful sort over a bit of ground. Racemosus has a prior engagement. Sunnv Downs was fourth at Te Rapa. but did not get into the money at Te Aroha. Tidewaiter is also accepted for earlier in the day. while Ringshot, who has been galloping well at Ellerslie, has prospects. Huntsman's Chorus may be the best of the others. The public may go for SL'RYOY YALREXT RIXGSHOT. The Open Sprint. Some smart sprinters are engaged in the Pukekohe Handicap. Tray Bit won at Te Aroha on Monday, while Diatomous ran two good races at the same meeting. Kilonsa was also a winner there. Bellky- ' rian was second at Rotorua and is very speedy. Tosh was placed at Trenthaiii and Te Aroha over seven furlongs, but is meeting a much better field here.
