INFANT SCHOOL.
KOB7HARAHA ADDITION. The new infant block at the Kohiruarama school was officially opened yesterday by the chairman of the Education Board, Mr. T. U. Wells, in the presence of a gathering of about 100 parents and friends.
It was originally intended that the block should comprise two rooms, but it was considered that the number of pupils did not warrant the complete building at present. The structure has been erected to facilitate the addition of the other room when necessary. The building has been planned to catch the maximum of sun and air, atid one side is constructed of sliding doors opening on to a spacious verandah. The opposite side is taken up almost entirely by windows.
The prizes won last year were presented to the pupils, prior to the official opening, by Mr. Welk, who was assisted by the headmaster, Mr. H. C. Jeffrey. An apology for his inability to attend was read by the chairman of the school committee, Mr. J. C. Rowe, from, the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, who was to have officiated at the opening ceremony. Afternoon tea was served *t the end of yesterday's function and a social and dance was held last night at St. Helier's Bav.
