ARRANGEMENTS FOR 1937.
DEPARTMENT FIXES DATES
Arrangemetrt* of the terms and holidays of the primary and secondary schools for 1937 were notified to the Auckland Education Board by the Department of Education yesterday. The memorandum from the Department stated that in view of the school*? not opening until March 1 it had been decided to modify somewhat, the length of the terms and holidays to %e observed.
In public and native schools the terms are to be as follow*—First term. Mar.-h 1 to Wednesday, May 12. Coronation Day. 10 weeks 3 days: second term, Monday, May 31. to Friday. August 20. 12 weeks: third term, Monday. September 6, to Friday. December 1", 15 weeks. For secondary, technical and combined schools the. terms will be:— term. March 1. to May 12. 10 weeks ;? diy.*; second, Tuesday. .Time 1, to Friday. August 20. 11 weeks 4 clays; third. Tuesday. September 7. to Friday. December 17. 14 weeks 4 da vs.
The first term in all easels ends «n and includes Coronation Diy. On account of the onr<ailment of the school year the Department stated that it would not be permissable f-->r poet-pri-mary sehools to close be?or<? December
The effect of the adjustment in the primary schools, said Mr. Dunlop, the secretary, would be that the primary schools would lose 44 half days this vear.
