INCOME-TAX PAYMENTS.

USUAL LAST DAY RUSH.

To-dav was the last day 011 which income tax payments could be made without incurring the 10 per cent penalty, and as usual there was a rush of payments at the various post offices. Increases in the scope of the taxation has resulted in a greatly increased turnover, and as a result more work was required 011 the part of the staffs handling it. It was stated this morning, however, that the result had been quite satisfactory.
