RETURN TO WINNING LIST.

After being off the winning list for just on 12 months, Royal Jewel showed a welcome return to form when he annexed ■the Mount Albert Handicap on the opening day of the Auckland meeting. He left the mark smartly and was in a handy position behind the leading division for the major portion of the journey, to take command as the field straightened up and go on to a comfortable victory. The effortless manner in which he disposed of the opposition over the final stages augured well for his prospects on the second day. but on this occasion he struck interference in the early stages, and his chanccs were ruined. Royal Jewel is a -very useful pacer in the middle classes, and while the tracks remain good he will •always have to be considered.
