Last night at Dunediu the Xew Zealand cricket selectors completed the team for England, and after it had been submitted to the New Zealand Cricket Council in Christchurch the complete list of players was released for publication. Wallace (20). —Most attractive batsman, with a good variety of scoring shots; a splendid field; represented North Island in 1!)35, and made a century against M.C.C. at Eden J'ark exactly a year ago. W. N. Carson (20).—With W a Mace. I the Dominion's leading batsman; a rapid scoring left-hander with ail average of 12.") in Plunket Shield cricket; a good field and useful change bowler. *G. L. Weir (28). —An all-round player; very solid bat; change bowler; a moderate fieldsman. V J. Cowie (24). —Fast bowler; who heads the averages in l'lunket Shield matches this season; fielding not up to standard. Canterbury. t M. L. Page (."<4). —Captain of side; allround player, who has made good after having been out of big cricket for most of last season, and not meeting with much success since his last return from England. *A. W. Roberts (28). —Another fine allround player; likely to prove the stock bowler of the team. Average 120 with bat this season. *w. A. Hadlee (24). —One of the Dominion's most brilliant and consistent young batsmen. Not a good fielder. *J. L. Kerr (26). —Sound batsman; former winner of Redpath Cup. Wellington. E. W. Tindill (20). —Only wicketkeeper chosen. good one; also a batsman of more than average ability, having three Plunket Shield ceil•turies to his credit. A. R. Moloney (20) Manawatu Hawke Cup representative, formerly of Otago; sound bat; also able to bowl slow. *B. Griffiths (20). —Slow right-hand bowler; has poor performances in recent inter-provincial cricket. Donnelly (19). —Colt from Taranaki. where he had a series of good batting performances; played his first Plunket Shield match against Auckland at Eden Park recently; earned great praise for his fielding and throwing-in. The real surprise selection, the reason for which may be due to Page'i strictures on "terrible New Zealand fielding." Otago. *J. A. Dunning (31$).—Former Auckland representative; stock bowler, who occasionally makes runs. Played for Xew Zealand (two for 150) when YV. K. Hammond made his record Test score of 330. not out, at Eden Park, on April 11. 1933. Another whose fielding leaves something to be desired. Page, Kerr, Hadlee, Roberts, Vivian, Wallace, Carson and Moloney were selected on February 11. and the team was completed last night with the following six:—Cowie, Weir, Tindill. Griffiths. Donnelly. Dunning. Some time earlier the New Zealand Cricket Council had announced that M. L. Page had been appointed captain, and Mr. T. C. Lowrv manager of the team.
