Y.W.C.A.
Members of the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A. were hostesses at an At Home in honour of Miss Margaret Steel, formerly of Southampton, England, and more recently of Sydney. Mrs. Campbell, vice-president of the Y.W.C.A., acted as hostess in the unavoidable absence of Mrs. M. Rudd, the president. Those present included a representative gathering of members of the board of directors, which included practically every committee and the staff. In welcoming the guest of honour' as a fellow board member from the Sydney association, Mrs. Campl>ell extended a warm welcome, emphasising the geographical nearness of Australia and New Zealand and of the strong bond existing between the associations in this country. Miss Steel gave an inspiring talk of her experience as a member of the Y.W.C.A. as an international movement with its Christian ideal, and a brief outline of some of the work of the Sydney association. An enthusiastic vote of thanks was accorded the speaker on the motion of M rs. .T. A. Brndstreet. The afternoon concluded with the serving of afternoon ! tea.
