INTERNATIONAL COLOUR. RANGOON. Snatches of British martial music, Mexican love songs and tango tunes are being incorporated into Burmese music here in an attempt to modernise Burmese drama. In the dancing in a new opera now bfing performed, there is a touch of Scottish reels, American jazz and Cossack steps. . Instead of tlie old-time eight-hour performance, the show lasts only two lion is and a half. The settings are picturesque and even gorgeous instead of the usual painted scenery. The costumes are gay and colourful. It Is the ambition of the producers of the opera to take their company on tour in India and Ceylon, and, subsequently, to Europe
