PRIME MINISTER'S PLANS. VISIT TO SOUTH ISLAND. (By Telegraph. — Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tiesdav. A ten days tour of Canterburv - , Ota<»o an<l Southland will be made bv the Prime Minister. Mr. Savage, this month. He leaves Wellington on Thursday, February 18, and will be accompanfcd by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, who will relieve Mr. Savage in receiving deputations on industrial questions. The trip will be (The Prime Minister's first to the South Island since he took office, and similarly it will be Mr. Armstrong's first Ministerial visit to Otago and Southland. The following itinerary ha« been arranged: The Ministers, accompanied l>y private secretaries, will leave Wei- 1 lington by the inter-island steamer ex- j press on Thursday, February IS. for Cliristchurch, where the week-end will be spent. During Friday afternoon Mr. Savage, as Minister of Native Affairs, w i'l_ visit the Maori settlement at Tuahiwi. Og Sunday the Ministerial partv will leave Christcburch bv train at 11.2 p.m. for Dunedin. After a busy dav in Dunedin they will leave by tlie 4.40 p.m. express train for arriving there shortly after 9 p.m. The following day will be spent in the capital of Southland, where several deputations will be received. On Thursday morning the Ministers will leave by train for Oamaru, where" the afternooh and night will be spent. On Friday, probably about 10 a.m., thev will leave Oamaru by motor car for Timaru, where the greater part of the day will be spent, also the ni?ht. Next morning they will leave by car early in the forenoon for Ashbufton. going in the afternoon to Christchurch. °On Saturday evening they will leave Lyttolton for Wellington, arriving bstck at the capital on Sunday, February 28. Later the Prime Minister proposes to visit North Island centres and hopes to be in Auckland on March 10 or 11.
