SQUADRON REGATTA. Ariki Arrives First—TwentyNine Starters. Twenty-nine boats started off King's wharf at seven o'clock last evening in the Royal Xew Zealand Yacht .Squadron's race-to Kaivau. where Ariki was the first to arrive, shortly before midnight, followed by Uawcne and X K a Toa.

The entries and handicaps were as follows:—Ariki, sui; Tawcra. Xga Toa. 2m; Kawcnt, Tamatea, (im; Waitanjii, Moana, l.mi; Prize, Victory, Little Jim, l(Sm; Ida! lSin; Waiomo, 10m; Viking Rambler! 22m; Kotiri. Altnir, 23m; Windward, 25m; Tawhiri. 2<iin; Mahaki, Rarcre. 27m; Tangaroa, 29m; lona, 32m; Kotuku, Janet, l'eri. 40m; Minerva, Anita, J.Tin: Dorothy, Vcctis, 50m.

Led b.v the new boat Tangaroa most of the yacht* s;ot away well together in a full sail breeze from the south-west, the lute-comers being Peri, lm; Kotiri. Waitaniti. Him; Rarerc, 2m; Dorothv, -lin. Thelma and Morewa did not start. ' With the exception of Prize, all the boats held ti. the northern side of the harbour, where they made better progress than did she. Tangaroa soon l<wt her lead to Rawene, the order passing the Devonport wharf bein g Rawene, Ariki. Tawcra, Tangaroa, Xga Toa. Approaching Samlspit Beacon, however, Ariki moved ahead into first place, while N'ga Toa moved up into second place. They rounded Xorth Head in that order, with spinnakers set for the long run to Mansion House Bav.

In the race for motor yachts Lady M.iiKiiret ecr. Atatu-01m and Rnira 71m", were Hcnt away at (i.30 p.m. Atatu got away first, but" Lady Margaret soon look the lead, followed by Atatu in second place, and Ruira third. They finished in that order.

H.M.S. Dimedin was flagship for the squadron's annual regatta at Kawau today, and prizes will be presented at a dance at Mansion House this evening.
