REGATTA DAY.
ENDEAVOUR FIRST HOME. White Wings at Lyttelton. (B.v Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this clay. To-day's big regatta at Lyttelton drew over a hundred competitors for tlie 17 races. The weather was perfect this morning and thousands of people flocked to the port. The programme included races for all classes, the large kcelerri including Mr. A. Miller's yacht Pastime, whicii was winning races 50 years ago. A big event was the Britannia Cup race for the ISft class championship. The competitors included the crack Auckland yacht Mann, and the Mako and Mystic from Grcymouth. Another outstanding- race was that for the 14ft Jellicoe class Xcw Zealand Challenge Cup, in which all the Panders Cup boats competed, together with other Cantcrbnrv boats of the class.
The local weather predictions were for hard north-east winds, but the breeze was no stronger than during Friday morning's race, though it freshened during the day. In tlie Britannia Cup event for ISft class yachts eight started, Mann leading across the line. Endeavour led the ileet of eight Jetlicoe class boats from the starting line and finished first, but on the 'handicap dead-heated with Lynette.
