Limn returned to Auckland this morning after :i short visit to 'Wellington. The Right Hon. J. 0. Coates arrived in Auckland this morning from the south. He is at the Grand Hotel. The Very Rev. Father D. H. Hurley, S.M., left ' Auckland yesterday by the Wal-ganella on a short business visit to Sydney. The Hon. Mr. W. T. Anderton. M.P. for Eden, accompanied by Mr. A. S. Richards, M.P. for Roskill, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Henley, of Griiflon, will leave by the Awatoa on February 21 for Sydney. After a brief stay there Mrs. Henley will leave for America.
Mr. M. O'Brien, Xew Zealand Commissioner at the Johannesburg Empire Exhibition, is to visit Tanganyika and milling of sisal for rope-making.
Professor S. .T. Truscott. emeritus Professor of Mining at the University of London, and examiner for 12 years for the New Zealand University, arrived at Wellington by the Tamaroa'from London Yesterday.
Dr. F. M. Lambert, representative of (lie Rockefeller Foundation in the South Pacific, is visiting Wellington to confer with Dr. M. H. Watt, Director-General of Health in Xew Zealand.
Mr. A. M. Seaman arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning from Wellington, where he attended a meeting of tho executive of the Associated Chambers of Commerce.
Mr. J. P. Kalaugher, secretary of the Xew Zealand Friesian Association, will leave to-morrow night by the Limited to attend the agricultural and pastoral show at Dannevirke.
Mr. I. A. Gordon, M.A., Ph.D. (Edin.), who has been appointed Professor of English at Victoria University College, will leave shortly for Xew Zealand. He was formerly oii the staff of the Edinburgh University.
The Reverend J. F. Goldie. chairman of the Methodist Missionary Society, Solomon Islands, arrived in Auckland" by the Wnngnnelln this week, to attend the annual meeting of the Mission Board and Methodist Conference.
Captain Jr. D. Stewart, who was recently appointed second pilot at Blull. sailed from London by the Arawa. and is due in New Zealand on February 27. Before his appointment. Captain Stewart was chief officer of the Rangitiki.
Mr. S. E. L-angstone, secretarymanager of the St.' John Ambulance Association in Auckland, returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. lance transport matters at the sitting of the National Health Insurance Committee. Mr. R. P. Browne left Auckland this afternoon for Wellington, where he will join the Awatea and proceed to Sydney to join the Jervis Boy for England. It is Mr. Browne's intention to reach England in time for the Coronation. During his slay in Auckland Mr. Browne was entertained at luncheon by the Auckland Rugby Union. Major-General A. Solly-Flood, England, was an arrival by'the Tamaroa, which berthed at Wellington yesterday. The visitor, who has had a distinguished career in the British Army, was in command of the 42nd Division (East Lancashire), which fought alongside the New Zealand Division in the Great War. lie is colonel of tho Prince of Wales' Volunteers (South Lancashire), formerly the •MHh Regiment, which is allied to the Hawke's Bay Regiment, in the system of alliance under the territorial system.
