AKA AKA INSTITUTE.

For the February meeting of the Aka Aka Women's Institute a garden party was held at the home of Mrs. W. MeC'oiinoil, Aka Aka, on Wednesday afternoon, February 3. Mrs. Anderson presided over a short formal meeting. One minute, of silence was observed in respect to Mr. W. Jolly, who had recently suffered a sad bereavement. Several members from the Otaua Women's Institute were present and given a cordial welcome. Mrs. Denize, president of the Otaua Institute, responded. Mrs. W. McConnell was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her hospitality and for the trouble she had taken to meet the demands of the occasion. The response to the competitions for a child's frock, smocked and handmade, and for the book cover, original native bird design, brought to light latent skill and talent among the junior members. A bring and buy stall supervised by Mrs. H. Jolly and -Mrs. Hill, was well catered for'and patrojiised. Miss Isabelle Landen presided at the ice cream supply. Afternoon tea provided by members was dispensed by the junior" members. Clock golf, croquet and bagatelle competitions were in charge of Misses I. Jolly and Elva McCarthy, and -Mrs. W. 11.
