QUIET RESERVE.
FOR THE PUBLIC. CORNWALL PARK AREA. PICNICKING PLAY GROUND. On a (lay such as to-day few places in Auckland posses the charm of Corn[wall Park. Quiet and sequestered, with cattle and sheep grazing in the shade of English trees, it is like a section of the country transplanted into the heart of a city's suburbs. A tall factory chimney "towering behind an avenue of exotics is a reminder of the pleasant contrasts which the park provides. Acres or land, rising up towards the summit of One Tree Hill, are available
to the public. Appreciating this rich endowment, people can he seen every day strolling and driving through' the park, or admiring the view which lies before and behind them once the top of the hill is reached. Within a short time yet another area , of the reserve will be ready for their use as a delightful picnicking spot and playground for children. In the centre of a large field which borders on the Green I.anc Koad a stone drinking fountain is at present being built. Sheep have been grazing lately on this area, which is fringed by treelined drives. Wide stone entrance steps have already been completed, giving access from the main drive and from a [larking place, and seats are to-be built about the ground. Facilities for filling billies will he provided at the drinking fountain, and the area will be an ideal picnicking site and playground for children. It is'expected tliat it will lie thrown open to the public within a few weeks' time.
