FOUR PERISH.

AEROPLANE CRASH.

Occupants of Press Machine Found Incinerated. FATALITY IN SCOTLAND. United Pre* Association.—Copyright. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 4. A shepherd found in a field the "Daily Express" aeroplane which had been missing since it left Renfrew, Scotland, on Tuesday, for Liverpool, to make a survey of proposed internal air routes throughout Britain. The machine was completely burned and the dead bodies of the four occupants were found inside the framework.

Those who perished were, the newspaper's aeronautical correspondent, Mr. Harold Pembert«n; a photographer, Mr. R. C. Wesley; the radio correspondent, Mr. T. H. Philpott, who was acting as wireless operator; and the 'pilot, Mr. Leslie Jackson.

Twelve aeroplanes, including Air Force machines, were used yesterday in a fruitless all-day search over a wide area of Southern Scotland for the de Havilland machine.

One of the searching Air Force machines crashed in the Lanarkshire uplands and the pilot and observer were injured and sent to hospital. The machine was badly damaged.
