For the «'cck to-day, the placement Service lias found work for "48 men. tliis week being the first time this year the total has been over 200.
Of the total, the I'uhlic Works
Department took men, and private employers, 21:!. Thirty-six were found casual work, !>1 temporary work, and
gli permanent employment. The trades represented in tlic-e figures are many ami varied. For example, work was found for OIK ' boiler maker, three hootmakers and three bricklayers. There were seven clerks and nine tally clerk* for wool stores, as well as :i0 labourers for the same industry. One employer wanted a carpet-layer, while four cooks, five mot or-drivers and two electricians were placed, as also was a sailniaker. Farm labourers were in demand, no fewer than 24 bein<; sent to different parts of the country. In all, aO trades were represented, which js a fail' indication that labour is in demand over a wide field. Despite the fact that over 200 men Jiave been found employment, there were 373 new enrolments this week.
