Frenchwoman's Story in Murder Charge. UNFAITHFUL LOVER. (Received 2 p.m.) PARIS, February 3. Irene Chapellut-Schmeder, wife of a wealthy 'Belgian, is charged with the. attempted murder of her lover, Pierre! Lallemant, by shooting him in the head on the Versailles airfield after a flight. She immediately took off again in their jointly-owned 'plane and flew blindly on until she was forced by petrol shortage to land in the south of England. In examination she told a magistrate that she had informed Lallament in November that she was an expectant mother. Owing to the brutal manner in which he received the news, she had 1 decided on suicide, but had changed her mind in mid-air, and shot him, not intending to kill him. I, She and Lallament had been intimate ' for some time, although she was aware that he was married. He not only broke his promise to divorce his wife and marry her, but paid attention to ! another woman, whose letters Irene • Sohmeder had found In his pocket. The case wag adjourned.
