IMMIGRATION TO N.Z.

MR. F. N. AMBLER'S MOTION. The question of immigration to New Zealand had a brief mention before the Auckland Chamber of Commerce this morning when Mr. F. N. Ambler gave notice of motion "That in the opinion of this council the time is opportune for tlic Government to consider the question of immigration and recommends that the Government institutes an urgent inquiry into the matter." Mr. Ambler said that it was a question that affected the country vitally, and he felt that some action should be taken. He had strong views on the subject, but he wished members to give it earnest consideration so that the matter could be discussed fully at the next meeting. Mr. W. R. Fee, who presided, said the question had been one of the major items raised at the recent Empire conference in Wellington. It was of supreme importance to Xew Zealand's future. The motion will be put before the next meeting of the council.
