WHEEL AND TRACK NOTES.
THREE RECORD HOLDERS. It i«, not often that one stable olicltere three record holders, but this is the case with that of the Addington trainer F. C. Dunlevy. Indianapolis holds the Australasian record for a mile by registering 2.0 2-5, while Grand Mogul established new figures for a mile and a quarter at Forbury by running 2.42 2-5. In the same race Tempest recorded 2.41 4-5 to finish third. NICELY PLACED AT EPSOM. Although Munga Tangi has not lived up to the expectations of many that he will develop into a cup horse, he was respon-* Bible for a, fair performance to finish third on the final day of the Auckland meeting during the holidays, as he was not suited by. the going, and this naturally affected him to a large extent. He has gone on the right way in the interim, and he should parade a very fit horse for engagements at Epsom next week. Munga Tangi is nicely pjaced in the improvers' races and he will disappont if he fails to pay expenses. WORKING BRILLIANTLY. Star Pronto continues to work brilliantly at Epsom, and the Australian-bred pacer is in excellent order to contest the chief events at the Auckland meeting, which opens at Epsom on Saturday week. His effort yesterday in running the last half mile of a mile and a half in 1.3 was accomplished in effortless style, and it is hard to say just how fast this horse could really go. However, he is not solid and frequently spoils his chances by breaking. The class competing in the big races at Epsom is fairly strong, but should Star l*ronto be on hie best behaviour he is sure to prove a source of trouble to the opposition. MAY PAY TO FOLLOW. Making his first appearance for some time, Ringtrue went a useful race in the Premier Handicap on the second day of the Auckland summer meeting. He never threatened to take part in the decision. but was not far awav from the placed horses at the post. Ringtrue gave promise of developing into a tip-top performer, but his last few efforts have been a trifle disappointing. However, he has ' not been over-raced, and with a few rune in public he may yet atone for some of his early failure*. Ringtrue hae done a light season at etud duty and the effort of Axminetei at the matinee meeting augury well for the future of the highly-bred eon oi Travis Axworthy and Bertha Bell as a sire. A LIKELY IMPROVER. Although Eyre has only started on two occasions, she has shown enough promise to warrant the prediction that she will turn out a fair class pacer with experience. In her first start at Claudclands in December she displayed promise in the middle stage*, but was not knocked about when she could not overhaul the* leaders. Her next appearance was in the Selby Handi-. cap on the first day of the Auckland summer meeting. One of the smartest to begin, Eyre quickly took up a handy position, with the result that she was up in third plat-* on the outsider when the field turned into the straight. However, Queenie Direct shifted her course at this stage and Eyre suffered interference and lost, her position. . She has not started since, but the half-sister to Great Admiral and Golden Eagle is expected to compete at the forthcoming Auckland meeting, and she is not likely to lack for'support.
