PRELIMINARY INQUIRY. MINISTER'S DECISION AWAITED*! No word has yet been received "from Wellington as tc the date of the nautical inquiry into the wreck of . the scow Rangi, which capsized off Rakino Island on the night of January 14, four lives being lost, including that of the master. In the absence of Captain H. W. T. Wilcox, superintendent of Mercantile Marine at Auckland, who was on leave ■at the time, Captain A. Daviee, nautical I' surveyor of ships, has held a preliminary inquiry, the results of which have been forwarded to the Minister of Marine, j the Hon. P. Fraser, whose responsibility 11 it i« to fix a date for the inquiry, if he 5 ■ considers one necessary, and to select 'the personnel of the Court.
