AT WORK AGAIN.

" THE EVERGREEN GIRL." JESSIE MATTHEWS BETTER. Popular Jessie Matthews, who won the praise of all American and English critics for her work in "It's Love Again," is back again under the arclights to finish her postponed musical, "Head Over Heels," at the Gaumont-British studios. For those who are inclined to cry down British films, it is sufficient answer to tell them to eee "It's Love Again," one of the best musical features of 1936. Miss Matthews' fan mail, barometer of her universal popularity, has been piling high in her absence. Back at the studios again Jessie turned to these letters, but faltered when she found what they required of her. For in a single day's fan mail were the following requests and queries: — '"Can I start a. fan club for you?" (from hundreds of admirers), "Can I write songs for you!" (from six earnest composers), "What school of dramatic art do you advise me to study at ?" "How can I become a film star ?" "What make-up should a red-head use?" "How tall are you ?" "What ia the colour of your eyes?" "Do you really spell your name with two t's ?" (from America). "Were you the young lady called Helene Matthews at an Ohio airport last year?" "As you rode a camel so well in 'It's Love Again,' will you go horse-riding with me in Xew York?" "Do you want a. secretary?" "Would you like a kitten?" "Can I be your maid?" and finally a request from an electricallymimled sailor who would like to be her personal valet and arrange lighting effects at her parties to match the colours of her dresses.
