TRAINING TEACHERS.
COLLEGE AT DUNEDIN.
GRATIFYING POSITION.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
DUNEDIN, this day.
Gratification was expressed b.y the chairman, Mr. J. WaHace, at a meeting of the Education Board to-day, that all the eligible Candidates from Otago for admission to the training college this year would be admitted.
It was reported that the board had admitted 90 students to the college, 03 being the Otago quota, and 27 on behalf of other boards.' The figures comprised 59 women and 31 men.
One member remarked that it - was clear that the reopening of the Dunedin college had been appreciated by the people of Otago and New Zealand.
The Chairman: Yes, it is very satisfactory from our point of view, but not from the Dominion point of view, for the qualification is not good enough. I blame the Department for its action in regard to the training colleges, as young people have been put off from applying for admission to. the colleges.
