AMAZING SCENES AT DUKE'S WEDDING.
CROWDS STAMPEDE.
Screaming Women Crushed
Against Railings
POLICE CORDONS BROKEN. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, January 27. The Brompton Oratory witnessed [ London's most brilliant wedding for years when over 2000 guests attended the marriage of the Duke of Norfolk to the Hon. Lavinia Strutt, daughter of Lord Belper. The bride's retinue wore the Duke's racing colours—skyblue splashed with scarlet. The bride's gown was of heavy silver cloth, cut on slim, close-fitting fines. As the bride had not yet been received into the Catholic Church there was no nuptial Mass. Eleven hundred presents included gifts from Their Majesties and other members of the Royal Family. Amazing scenes were witnessed outride the bride's home in Berkeley "Square and at Bronipton Oratory. Crowds, totalling thousands, mostly women, stampeded to get a* sight of the bride. Many fell on the roadways, which were littered with hats, umbrellas and bags, while others were crushed against railings, screaming hysterically. Police cordons were broken but order was restored by mounted police.
