CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday
The only two finals which remained in the New Zealand croquet championships wero played to-day in perfect weather Mrs. W. Corbet (Invercargill) won the women's championship and A. Gibbs (Manawatu) won the open championship In the women's final Mrs. Corbet took no chances, playing a steady and accurate game. The final of the open championship was witnessed by the largest gallery of the tournament, Gibbs' win was hie second in succession. He beat Mrs. Gainbrill holder of the Xorth Island women's championship. Gibbs was more accurate and his opponent's failures were costly. Results:— Women's Championship, final.—Mrs W Corbet beat Mrs. J. Palmer 26—2 Open ChanipioiMhii.. final.—A. Gibbs beat Mrs. Gambrill, 26-10. 2(>—l3.
