SUSTENANCE OR WORK.
It must be well known to the authorities concerned that many men are on sustenance, because they are not fit for tin- lica\.v work offering or have home responsibilities that will not allow them to accept country work. I am told that the Government has'offered cheap money to the City Council to go on with the shelved Domain improvements. Tlii- work would absorb the majority of men lit only for light work. A* things are. men are being wrongly classed as useless, forced to remain on sustenance and placed in a far worse position than formerly. This stand is hardly in keeping with the pre-election promises of City Council co-operation and cheap Government money. DISILLUSIONED.
