SULKY RACE.

MEN BETWEEN THE SHAFTS. Each pulling a, trotting sulky containing an adult passenger, L. Brown, W. 1 Johnston, L. Ilickey and E. Shilton comjieted in a six-mile, road race from Grafton Bridge via Park Road, Khyber Pass Koad and Manukau Koad to Oneliunga on Saturday afternoon. The novel event, which was organised in connection with a carnival to raise funds for the purchase of a set of Hew instruments for the Oneliunga Citizens ' Band, was won by Shilton, his time being 44 minutes. The carnival is being well patronised, and is being continued to-day.
