WEDDING.
SMITH—SIMON.
The Pitt Street Methodist Church was the setting on Saturday evening for the marriage of Miss Joy Beatrice Simon, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Simon, of Richmond Eoad, Ponsonbv, to Mr. Alwyn Chaj-les Smith, only son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Smith, of Ponsonby. The Rev. E. T. Olds officiated, and the soloist was Miss Nancy Hickling. Mr. Bryant presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated in white and pink blooms.
The bride, who was given away by her father, chose ice-wliite heavy satin for her gown. Made on slender lines to the knees, the skirt flared at the hem, and was bordered with a wide hem of stiffened tulle. A long train was allied to the skirt, a beautiful medallion of tulle being worked on the satin. The bodice was cut with a round Jieck-line and lpnpf sleeves. A billowy embroidered tulle veil was caught on the head with a white, lace halo headdress, pearls and orange blossom buds being effectively worked on the lace. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies and flower trailers, which fell to the end of the skirt.
Her bridesmaids were Misses Edna McArtliur, Audrey Tvil, and Alva Burgess. Their delightful frocks of chalkwhite spiderweb lace were fashioned on slender lines. The bodices had a spray of pink roses at the cowl necks, while the skirts were flared and fastened at the waist with briar-rose pink velvet sashes and long ends. Fashioned in fanshapo were the headdresses of pink and silver, and they carried large fansliaped bouquets of beautiful pink flowers.
The three flower girls, Fay Mills, Nelda Manly, and Dolores Heron, were a dainty trio in briar-rose pink lace period frocks, pleated net forming large medallions round the skirts. The sleeves were made of frilled net and sashes of the same colour were worn round the waist. Their headdresses comprised wreaths of pink rose-buds and silver leaves, and they carried pink and white
posies. » Mr. Graham Sheppard was best man, and the groomsmen were Messrs. Bob Wallace and Bruce Sherwin.
After the ceremony a reception was held in the reception hall of the Farmers' tearooms. As a compliment to the bridal group, the tables and hall were a bower of pink arid white blossoms. Mrs. Simon, the bride's mother, wore a beige georgette and lace gown, with a brown velvet posy on the shoulder. Her open-worked tagel hat was trimmed with dull pink cire ribbon, and she completed her toilette with a pink bouquet. Mrs. Smith (the bridegroom's mother) was gowned in brown floral crepe de cljf.a, with ]>lain brown coat. Her brown ballibuntal hat was trimmed with flowers, and she carried a bouquet of autumn-toned blooms. Mrs. D. Simon ehose a blue flowered georgette, threaded in gold; Mrs. B. Sproule (aunt) wore a Parma violet gown, threaded in gold, and hat to tone; Mrs. B. Mills (aunt) was in <t- brown and daffodil spotted crepe, and hat to match.
