ODE TO DUTY.
AMERICAN PAPER'S COMMENT. NEW YORK, December 9. The "New York Times," in a leader, says: "Sympathy and sentiment are all very well in their place, but the occasion now in the British Empire seems to call for the reading of the Ode to Duty, thai 'stern daughter of the voice of God.'" The reference is to the following verse from Wordsworth's "Ode to Duty": — Stern daughter of the voice of God ! O Duty! if that name thou lore, Who art a light to guide, a rod To check the erring and reprove.
