STRUCK BY SHOVEL JIB.
WORKMAN SERIOUSLY HURT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELL!XGTO.V, Wednesday. An employee of the Wellington City Council, Mr. W. J. Lawrence, of Xgaio, was working near an excavation for drainage purposes when the jib of a mechanical shovel fell and struck him. He was taken to hospital in an unconscious state, and his condition was later reported to be serious. Mr. Lawrence is married, with one child.
