BANKRUPT CONTRACTOR.
CREDITORS SYMPATHETIC.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON", Wednesday. Attributing his position largely to incompetent workmen, Thomas Joseph Burke, building contractor, met his creditors before the Official Assignee in Hamilton this morning. His schedule showed liabilities at £754, and assets estimated to produce £419, leaving a deficiency of £335. His assets comprised a car, book debts of £0, cash and property in Whakatane. In his statement bankrupt said he had been in the trade on his own account since 1921, and the last six years in Hamilton. He c-aine here with about £SOO capital, and carried on successfully till three years ago when he lost money on contracts owing to unfavourable weather and incompetent workers. Five months ago his house was burned down and he lost heavily. The realisation of the assets was left in the bands of the Assignee, creditors passing a vote of sympathy to bankrupt.
