AUCKLAND CLUB. Acceptances for the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club's summer meeting will close with the secretary, Mr. A. G. Mabee, Durham Street, at 5 p.m. tomorrow. DESERVED HIS VICTORY. After racing consistently during the past three months, Great Sonoma broke his maiden status when he scored in -the Stewards' Handicap at Claudelands last Saturday. He competed earlier in the Frankton Handicap, and would probably have taken part in the decision of this event but for breaking several times on the journey and then leaving his feet again when the field came into the straight. In the race he won Great Sonoma put in a couple of skips, but they were not serious ones, and he soon regained liis gait on each occasion. Nelson's Glory came fast in the run home, but she failed to reach Great Sonoma by a neck. It has taken the bay trotter a long time to win a race, and now that he is back in the handicaps he has been set much harder tasks.
