WAIPA CANDIDATES. MASTER BRIEKLY'S GOOD MI3LE. KING NEPTUNE ALSO IMPRESSES Weather conditions were ideal for train ing at Ellerslie this morning and tin going on No. X grass, on which the polec were out 10ft, was excellent. The tar and two-year-old tracks were also in use and there < was some schooling ovci hurdles in the centre. Ringshot (McTavish) and High Stai (Williams) reeled off half a mile in 51s They had some speed on when they jumped away and ran the firet furlong in 12 4-5?. Ringshot finished on bettei than usual. Tybalt (Mu Curdy) completed a useful task by running his last halfmile in 55 2-ss. Jolie Dance (Tremain) got to the end of live furlongs in 1.7 3-5. and Fleetwind (G. Gilchrist) occupied l. 1 / 4-5 for a similar task. Nuclei (McTavish) and Miss Appellant (Cameron) completed half a mile in 525. Nuclei finished on nicely. Royal Appellant (J. Buchanan) strode over six furlongs in 1.20 1-5- This horse looks in first-rate order. Master Brierly (Vaughan) was sent a_ mile and ran the distance in 1.44 3-5. King Neptune ■ assisted him over the lasit five furlongs, which took 1.4 3-5. Both horses worked well. Gay Broney (McTavish) was timed to run seven furlongs in 1.38 3-5. He was not doing his best at any part of it. Valspear (Tremain) strode over ,i round in 1.57. He increased his pace over the last half-mile, which took 52 2-ss. After Breakfast. Aero King (Tremain), Manatere (L. Dulieu) and the Surveyor—Llanore filly ran home from the three-furlong post in 38 4-ss. There was not much between them at the finish, though Aero King impressed most- White Foam (G. Gilchrist) was sent over a similar distance, which she covered in 37 2-ss. Royal Broney (Preston) completed half a mile in 53 4-ss. School Song (Jenkins) finished ahead of Bon Star (Tremain), with Lady Gainsborough (Murray) several lengths back, at the conclusion of four furlongs in 52 4-ss. One of the best half-miles of the morning was credited to Survoy (Tremain), who ran the distance in 51s. United, who jumped away in front of the six-furlong post, was timed to run his last five in 1.7 1-5. On the Tan. Waitaka and the maiden by Vaals in the same stable sprinted half a mile in 53 3-ss. There was little between them at the end. Big Dook worked over a round, covering the last three furlongs in 44 l-ss. Armacourt also did strong work over a circuit. On the two-year-old track Play On (Goldfinch) ran a furlong in 13 3-ss. He hit out in good style for a beginner. The Jumpers. HorQwhenua (Kearns) was tried over a couple of pony hurdles, balking each time. Tried again he cleared the first, but blundered at the next and dislodged his rider. He then ran off the course and through the gates leading on to Green Lane, eventually being caught in the Great South Road. He was none the worse for his, escapade. Cai'shalton* (Turvey) gave a good display over four hurdles in the centre, jumping very fast. Gay Cavalier (R. Smith) was sent over the same hurdles. He jumped safely, but did not have much pace on. Silver Ring and II puce. Silver Ring was trotted arid cantered over a couple of rounds on No. 1 grass track at Ellerslie this morning and moved very .short. He looks in splendid order and if rain falls to soften the tracks it will assist his preparation. 11 Duce was allotted useful work on the same track, sprinting down the straight. He also displayed signs of soreness.
