TENT BURNED.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday.

Awakened by flames and smoke, Mrs. MeCauley had "a narrow escape when the tent in'which she was sleeping was burned at Ahititi at the week-end. Ihe fire had such a hold that she had time to rescue only her purse, a coat and a little bedding. The tent belonged to the ± uulic Works Department, and was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. McCauley, who lost all their possessions.
