TRACK GALLOPS.

WAIKATO MEETING. JONATHAN WORKS WELL. PRINCE BANGI AND ORATE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") TE AWAMUTU, this day. Tlie course proper, next to the rails, was available for the semi-final gallops ol horses engaged at Te Rapa. Although the going was slightly heavy several useful gallops were witnessed, and a number •have excellent prospects, particularly among lesser-known performers. Quadroon (Wiggins), Tuaheahe (Murtagh) and Loombination (Horne) were in that order after a nicely-run mile in 1.45%, Quadroon making a good impres* sion. The maidens Prince Rangi and Orate (the Oration colt) were responsible for one of the best gallops of the morning by ■dashing over live furlongs in 1.3 3-5. Yalpai was to have worked with Gay Seton and Gay. Sister over six furlongs, but broke away 'to come home just ahead in 1.18 1-5, the other pair taking 1.17%. Gaytion, who has a very awkward style, and Illuminagh, came noane from the ■half-mile in 565. Galilee, with Namakia as a companion, was run along from the five-furlong peg to occupy 1.4 1-5. They could have improved on this time. Ngakaru, the maiden half-brother to Namakia, ran a similar journey in 1.4 3-5. Jonathan impressed while working over a mile, hitting out very freely to take 1.42 4-5. He had the assistance of Rulette over the last three furlongs. Jonathan looks to have an excellent chance. Torch, with Maxown as a companion, came home from the five-furlong post in 1.3. They were on terms. Sweet Rose had a slight advantage over Privy Seal at the and of half a mile in 50s. Cheval de Volee was worked over five furlongs, but was not above three-quarter pace. Besiege was sent five furlongs, and took 1.4 2-5. He had the assistance of the veteran Pegaway over the last two, Pegaway having the advantage. Musquil could have done much better than 1 39 for her seven furlongs. Son of the Soil, Lady Meath and White Flower were also given short sprints, but were not after time. The two first-named are working well, and will be having their first outings on Saturday. * On the outside of the course Celtic Lad was not extended to take 56s for half a mile, Gaytion and Illuminagh doing a similar task in 55 3-ss. Riding engagements for Te Rapa are:— H Wiggins, Mazir, Tuaheahe, Tosh, Gay Streak, King Ford; R. Horne. Fox Moth, Sweet Rose, Gay Seton, Gay Sister, Musquil, Valpai (second day); C. G. Goulsbro, Lady Meath, Son of the Soil, Namakia, Rulette, Maxown; A. Tinker, Jonathan.
