LINE EXTENDS

FISHING AREAS FOR TRAWLERS. From Monday next Auckland trawlers will have to go further afield for their catches, as from then to March 15 next the line of operations is extended from the present one between Tiritiri and Colville Bay to a line further out, marked by Cape Colville at the one end and Rodney Point at the other.

Similarly at this time of the year, and extending to January 31 next, general netting is prohibited in the area inside the line from Kauri Point, Wailieke, to Takatu Point, north of Kawau Island.

All through the year there is a line closer in to mark the area where Danish seining is prohibited.

Schooling snapper come into the gulf regularly every year with the approach of warm weather, and after spawning in the vicinity of Kawau, Tiritiri and the Noisies make out to sea again.
