Paul Uglietto, the manic youth who killed seven people, mainly woodcutters and their families, in the forests of the Basses Alpes earlier this week, took refuge in a farm building near Digne. He be<jan shooting when police surrounded it. They set fire to tlie structure in an attempt to smoke him out, but he was burnt to death.
