FOUND GUILTY.
MAORI YOUTH'S OFFENCE. On a charge of unlawfully carnally knowing a girl under 10 years of age at Pipiwai, North Auckland, a Maori, Matauranga Rotohiko Hoterene, aged |9, was yesterday found guilty by a jury in the Supreme Court. The jury's verdict was accompanied by a strong recommendation to mercy, on aecount °f the character of the girl concerned. Mr. B. Meredith appeared for the Crown, J. Butle. and Mr. I. Smith for the accused, the case being heard before Mr, Justice Callan. Prisoner was remanded for sentence.
