TERMS OF IMPRISONMENT. YOUNG MAN'S OFFENCES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Nine prisoners were sentenced by, Mr. Justice Johnston in the Supreme Court this morning. John Kenneth Gordon Apperly, 39, for the theft of £144 5/9, as a town clerk at Motueka, received 12 months imprisonment. The judge said it was not a case for probation, the prisoner having been granted probation - in 1932 at Motueka for theft and. was not "entitled to a second chance. Edward John Hill, 31, agent and debt collector, for theft at Greymouth, was granted. 12 months' probation. George Reginald Harrison, 25, labourer and gardener, on six charges of breakin;; and entering with theft, and Jack Irwin, 29, labourer, on five charges of breaking and entering and theft, were sentenced to two years' imprisonment i and two years' reformative detention ' respectively. James Norman Old, 30, labourer, for indecent assault on a female child at Wangamii, received 12 months' reformative detention. Henry George Pearce, 37, warehouse manager, for theft as a servant at Wellington, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. Sydney Albert Walker, 26, seaman and labourer, for indecent assault on a female at Wellington, .was sentence to 18 months' imprisonment. Daniel Hughes, G3, labourer, for tlie theft of £5 5/ from a. person at Wangsuui. received six months' imprisonmen . Clarence Leopold Tollev, 22, motor driver, for forging a driver's license, was placed on probation for 12 months. Eric Alfred Chapman,. 23, labourer, on two charges of carnal '.knowledge, M* charges of breaking and. entering wi_j intent to commit a crime, and sis charges of breaking and entering wi theft, was sentenced to two year;imprisonment.
