MISSIONARY WORK.

BAPTIST WOMEN MEET. Forty-six branches were represented at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Baptist Women's Missionary Society, which began yesterday morning at the Baptist Tabernacle. The Dominion president, Mrs. S. T. Page, presided over the business session after a devotional meeting led by Mrs. E. Nicholls. The delegates were welcomed by Mrs. T. H. Eccersall, and Mrs. Milner, of Wellington, replied on their behalf. The lady missionaries were then greeted by Mrs. ,J. Laird, and Miss Eileen Arnold replied on their behalf. At the roll call, in addition to the 40 branches represented, responses were read from 20 unrepresented branches. The annual report was read by Miss Gainsford, Dominion secretary. This showed there were 73 branches, with a total membership of 1861, with four "Y" branches. Nine new ropeholders' bands (children) had been formed, and these had made garments to be sent to India, in addition to raising money for the same work. The financial statement, presented by Miss Wilkinson, ■ Dominion treasurer, showed that £1858 had been raised during the year. The election of officers resulted:— Dominion president, Miss S. E. Bell; Dominion secretary, Miss E. M. Gainsford; Dominion treasurer, Miss N. Wilkinson. Luncheon was served by the Auckland ladies. At the afternoon session a remit was carried: "That in the event of there being more than one nomination for Dominion .president, the issue be decided on a majority vote from the five districts rather than by ballot at the Assembly meetings." The total budget for the year was £1780, and a discussion took place in regard to its allocation. Mrs. S. T. Page's presidential address, entitled "Prayer, Its Privileges and Power," was listened to by a large gathering of ladies, and held the interest of everyone present. A duet was given by Mesdames Crampton and Grigg. The amount of £50 was passed for a microscope for the Chaudpur Hospital. J
