RUGBY LEAGUE.

FOURTH ANNUAL BALL. MANY GUESTS ATTEND. Banners and shields in blue, white and black, the colours of the Auckland Rugby League and the New Zealand Rugby League were used with effect to decorate the Peter Pan Cabaret last evening when a large number of patrons and friends assembled to celebrate the fourth annual ball of the Auckland Rugby League. The long tables in the supper room were decorated with Iceland poppies and green foliage in tall crystal vases. During the evening novelties of various kinds including a number of beautiful leis in colours representing all the clubs attached to the Auckland Rugby League, and paper favours in the various club colours were distributed. These were made and donated by Mr. H. Walmsley, who has been a keen supporter of the game for many years. A telegram of apology was received from the president of the Auckland Rugby League, Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., who was unable to be present owing to his Parliamentary duties, and from Mrs. Lee. On arrival the guests were received by the chairman of the ladies' committee, Mrs. Ivan Culpan, and Mr. A. Ferguson, chairman of the ball committee. Mrs. Culpan wore a frock of black angel skin lace with a shoulder spray of orchids. Members of the ladies' committee present were:—Mrs. T. Cliermside, who wore phlox pink suede crepe; Mrs. R.
