JONATHAN'S USEFUL MILE. i (By to "Star.") TlO AWAMUTU, this day. Galloping at Tc Awamutu this morning was carried out on the course proper, with the poles about 40ft out. The going wm fair. The inner -plough was used for pace work. Gallio was first out, and was sent sis furlongs, being under restraint to take 1.22. Galilee was allotted half a mile, and could have improved upon the 555. | Cylarros was allowed to run along over the last three furlongs of his work in 40l Rulette held a slight advantage over Girl Pat over the same ground- in 38s. Jona> than, with the assistance of Loombination over the last six furlongs, complete! the last mile of nine furlongs in 1.49. They finished together. Valpai_ was worked over a mile, and took 2.1 3-5. Gay Seton and Gay 'Sister were companions over half a mile run in 535. They were together at the end. From a barrier start Prince Rangi and the Oration-Rarakau gelding jumped away well, and ran half a mile in 54 3-ss. On the inner plough were Maxown, Torch, Tonnerre, White Flower, Sweet Rose, Superior Guard, Delrain, JNamafaa, Musquil, Cheval de Yolee, Illuniinagh, the Ruapapa—Sibford gelding and the gelding by Vaals from Gold Bud. A. Cook, with Gallio, Jonathan, Galilee> Rulette, Cylarros and Girl Pat, and K. Savage, with Loombination are to leave to-morrow morning by road.
SCRATCHINGS. Cricket and Deficit were scratched for their engagements at the Auckland meeting at 12.27 p.m. to-day.
