TROTTING.
EPSOM TRIALS. A QUIET MORNING. YOUNG RODNEY'S CONDITION. There was very little fast work at Epsom this morning, when the dirt, cinder and sand tracks were in use. The going was good. Most of the horses were allotted solid tasks, but were not sent against the watch. Lucky Love was sent several rounds at a useful pace. The black gelding has taken no harm from his races at Claudelands and looks in excellent order. He has only to continue on the right way to have good prospects at the forthcoming Auckland meeting. Count Parrish put in two miles at a 2.30 gait, but marred his display by breaking on three occasions. When going at top the ex-Southern trotter is inclined to hitch, but hits out well. Dilfashion was jogged about four miles on the sand track. He is in nice order for serious work, with a view to competing at the Auckland fixture. Dilfashion was given some starting practice from a stand and acquitted himself well. Gold Pointer ana Young Rodney, after running half a mile in 1.14, were timed to cover the last mile of a mile and a quarter in 2.30 2-5, the last four furlongs taking 1.13. Young Rodney fairly revelled in the work and is a very fit horse. Gold Pointer is shaping up well. Princess Onyx put a lot of heart into a run on the /sand track. She is in splendid condition and it should not be for lack of condition if she fails to run prominently at Epsom. The novice Musketeer was keen to hit out faster, while getting through useful work. Although he has yet to have his first race, -the bay pacer has shown a nice turn of speed in his training and should turn out well with experience. The Frank Worthy gelding in F. Herring's stable and Queenie Direct were associated over a mile and a quarter, but they were not asked for their best and the full journey occupied 3.11 1-5, with Queenie Direct about two lengths in front at the finish. The filly is getting through her tasks satisfactorily. Kewpie's King is bearing a bright appearance and is showing no signs of soreness. He will probably bo sent along faster from now on. Golden Bramble, from the same stable, is also looking well. Travis, Avho has not been up long, did useful work on the sand, and showed all his best speed in a short sprint over a couple of furlongs. He should not take long to come to hand. Dick Redmond and Amythas were companions over a mile. They were not asked for their best, but Amythas
