TRACK GALLOPS.

WORK AT ELLERSLIE. KELLY GOES FAST. LORD VAL AND ROYAL APPELLANT Weather conditions were good for training at Ellerslie this morning until after the breakfast interval, when a heavy shower fell. However, the going was fairly good, though greasy and slower, after the rain. The course proper, with •the poles 55ft out, and the No. 3 grass track were used for fast work. The two-year-old, sand and hurdle tracks were also in use. The Course Proper. Ro"lnan Mascot went away from the mile post and ran home in 1.57 1-5, the first half mile taking 595. She was not doing her best at any part of it. Little Man sprinted three furlongs in 40 3-ss. He hit out well and is on the improve. Whirlmint and Jewelled Girdle, after running their first three furlongs in 41s, were timed to compete seven in 1.37 2-5. They ran the first half mile in 54 2-5s and Whirlmint impressed most, though she had the better of the weights. Kelly (Gilchrist) and Ca'liente (Clarke) got to the end of five furlongs *in 1.7 2-5. They ran the first two in 26 3-5s and Kelly was doing it comfortably at the end. Speedfast was going easily throughout six furlongs, which occupied 1.27 2-5. Tybalt was given useful work and traversed his last five furlongs in 1.14 1-5. Landlubber showed to better advantage than Higli Star while running the last four of five furlongs in 55 2-ss. Landlubber was sore after working and is unlikely to race at Paeroa. Knight of Australia was given an easy six furlongs, which occupied 1.30 1-5. He is looking well after his racing at Avondale. Tin Lap had Haputale as a companion over three furlongs in 39 3-ss. This was the best effort of the morning over the distance. They finished on terms. Wee Pat did useful work, averaging 15s to the furlong over the last six. Morning Sun ran home from the five-furlong post in 1.10 4-5 and Eersian Lady, who went off just behind her, covered a similar distance in 1.9 2-5.

Master Brierly (Gilchrist), Roy.il Appellant (Buchanan) and Horowhenua (Kearns) were associated over a round. They were bunched at the finish, covering ( the distance in 2.15 1-5. The last seven 'furlongs took 1.39 and the final three 42 l-os. It was a good workout and Royal Appellant got through his task in pleasing style. Master Brierly had a big pull in the weights, which lie appreciated. Gay Princess was slightly ahead of Dialogue after traversing their last five furlongs in 1.11 4-5. After going away slowly from the six-furlong post, Gay Defence took 1.10 to run his last five. Tooley Street cantered round to the threefurlong post and came home in 42 l-ss. He could have improved on the time. Electric Flash strode over seven furlongs, but was not after time. Waitaka completed half a mile in 56 l-ss.

After Breakfast. Armacourt went very evenly while running six furlongs in 1.25 1-5. She is engaged in only one race at the Auckland spring meeting and should give a good account of herself. Valspcar was running on strongly at the end of half a mile, which he covered in 555. Survoy and' Valmint, after running their first three furlongs in 39 3-ss, completed six in 1.22. This was the best of the morning over the distance and Survoy was nearly a length in front at the finish. Valmint lias not had much fast work and the gallop should improve him. Vera Acre aiift : th~e ; RosSendale' gelding, after taking 41?4-5s for their first three furlongs, got to the end of six in 1.25 3-5. The latter pleased most. Crooning and Valise were brought over from Otahuhu and were allotted six furlongs, which took 1.28 1-5. They were under restraint throughout. Marjory Daw gave Bon Star a start at the half-mile post and was holding him safely after running the distance in 54 3-ss, Marjory Daw handled the going in good style. Lord Val (Murray) completed a mile in 1.52, running the last half mile in 555. This also was a good effort. On the No. 3 grass track Kilonsoa was timed to run the last four of five furlongs in 50s. She put a lot of vim into the task, Gar'Vaals ran home from the three-furlong post in 40 4-ss. He was doing it nicely at the finish. Haputale worked on the two-year-old track, running his last two furlongs in 27 2-ss, and Red Ledger strode over three furlongs in 41'3-5s on the same track. The Jumpers. Teddy Boy (Williams), Ruling King (Craddock), All Irish (Wilkinson) and Mountain Bruce (Turvey) were associated over four hurdles in the centre. They all fenced safely and finished in the order named.

AT TE RAPA,

DARK SHADOW IMPRESSES. (By Telegraph. —Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. The going on the course proper, about 10ft out, was in comparatively good order at Te Rapa this morning, and several interesting trials were recorded. Singara hit out over half a mile in 575. Gay Flier sprinted three furlongs along the back in 40s. He is bearing a well-trained appearance. Kanapa, who is improved, came home over the last halfmile of his work in 57 3-ss. Dark Shadow, accompanied by Lion Heart, hit out freely over a round, Dark Shadow finishing half a length in front at the completion of the effort. They ran their first half-mile in 545, six furlongs in 1.22%, seven in 1.36%, and the full distance in the good time of 2.7. It was a solid effort on the part of both horses. Grand Score ran five furlongs in 1.9. Sir Tommy, assisted by Calcutta over the early part, was timed to traverse a circuit in 2.9%. Sir Tommy appears to be more robust than formerly. Orac, accompanied over the first three furlongs by Tosh, reached the six furlongs peg in 121 the first half-mile taking 52%5, and tlie' five furlongs in 1.7 Mangukaha showed her customary dash by hitting out over half a mile in 52%5. and pulling up at five in 1.7. These figures were not bettered during the morning. Lucidus, who is looking a picture of condition, completed a round in 2.7. the initial halfmile being cut out in 57 3-ss. Sinking Fund and Lornacre were companions over five furlongs, the former finishing slightly in front after running the first half-mile in 54s Both were doing their work well throughout: English Night . Occupied 1 9 3-5 for five furlongs, the first half-m<le in 565. Trilly Arcli and a Surveyor—Jolly Princess filly brushed over two furlongs alon" the back in 255. Golden Jubilee ran half a mile in 55%'5. Curlew, accompanied bv Stormy Weather over the first seven furlongs, got to the end of a circuit in 2.11%, the first half-mile in 565. Philemim finished in front of a Bronze Eagle fillv at the end of half a mile :n 54%5. the first three in 395. King Rey bit out over six furloncs, taking 1.22, the first half-mile in 545.
